Precious lessons from a soccer match

What a game!

And although for PSG’s fans, the defeat may be bitter, it will be a good experience for the team on the way towards being a force in Europe in the future. To all the RM’s fans out there, congratulations, it’s a well worth victory, against all odds. For me, as a subjective observer, there are quite a lot of lessons about life and work that can be drawn from that epic match:

  1. Even if the odds are stacked against you, don’t give up. Persistence pays off, and your efforts will not be in vain.
  2. Having a star team does not guarantee success. The sum is more than its parts. A well oiled machine works more efficiently than a machine with expensive parts that are not totally compatible.
  3. Don’t be complacent. That’s the perfect recipe for disaster. When you have an advantage, leverage on and make full use of it. Victory is not assured until you reach the finish line. Never count your beans too early. It’s better to finish ways earlier than to cut too close to the deadline.
